By now all Horizon and Vertigo users have noticed our Halloween treatment on the top of the page. A number of people have had questions about the site scheme and I thought we would create a post on the Design Community specifically to address all the questions.

We made modifications to the "Show this entry to:" drop-down on the Post an Entry page to reflect what actually happens:

• If the journal or community you're posting to has a minimum security set, that level will be selected and the other options grayed out. The other security options are available when you edit the entry, since ( Read more... )

I've altered my mockup of vertical-nav Horizon to anchor the sidebar to the side of the page since that was one of the major issues people had with the first version. Also, vertical-nav Horizon would not use javascript for the navigation -- it'd be basic html.

As you may have already heard in news, we just launched the beta version of Vertigo!

There seems to be a bit of confusion going around, so for clarification's sake...
We are *not* replacing Horizon with Vertigo; they are the same site scheme (same links, same styling, etc.). Horizon is the horizontal version with drop-down menus, and Vertigo is its ( Read more... )

The thinking of the categorization of links was basically Your Stuff vs. Others' Stuff. This is why the links in Horizon is ordered My LJ, Journal, Pictures, Profile (belongs to you), Friends, Communities, Find (belongs to others). We're going to be rolling out some minor style changes to Horizon soon and as mentioned in chasethestars's post, we're working on Horizon's sister scheme, Vertigo.

Since Horizon and Vertigo will be sharing the same style and colors, we'd like to take the opportunity to get some feedback from you guys and give them a little makeover!

We started working on the vertical version of the new site scheme. Vertigo is the sibling to Horizon, and its look and feel and functionality is a cross between Horizon and Dystopia. We've mocked this up, and would like your feedback on it. A few of the points we're specifically interested in:

Thanks to everyone who tried out the beta site option and sent us feedback!

Here's some of the feedback we incorporated:

1. It should work on 800x600 without objects stepping all over each other.
2. The redundancy of links has been minimized. The links under "View Your" have been integrated into the menus.
